Dum, dum, dum duuuummm, before you even start humming that melody, you’d better understand what it is that makes a woman marriage material. What makes a man want to marry a woman is about to be revealed, so hold on to your hats and let’s dive in.
Nothing is more attractive to a man than the woman who has self integrity and pride in her own being. I know that sounds deep but it’s the truth. Sure, you can be submissive and iron his clothes, make him dinners, show up to the door with slippers and a brandy in hand, but what does that show your guy? That you’re a Stepford Wife (and we all know what happened to them and it wasn’t the nicest end). No, we’re in the 21st century and you need to play by a different rule book. Here’s a little example for you. You have a job interview and you get dressed up in your best suit and heels and apply professional looking makeup. On your way out the door, your guy stops you and says well, maybe you should change into a longer skirt or wear less makeup. Instead of complying with his requests (hello pushover!), you tell him (in nicer terms of course) to take a long walk off a short cliff. Now that’s being assertive and your man will find that wildly attractive.
Believe it or not, your guy is not looking for perfection. Sure, he may ogle the perfect models in magazines and the sports channels, but come on ladies,that’s not reality right? They may be nice to look at but you, you are the real deal and you’ve got something that makes him stay with you. You’re interesting. I hear you saying, oh is that all? Yes, it sure is. He didn’t strike up this relationship because you had perfect hair or teeth or can recite every baseball score for the entire season (no offense if you do of course), he did it because you have interesting quirks of your own. Maybe you have a loud mouth that gets you in trouble a little too often, or you have a secret talent for making prime rib steak. Whatever your talent you’re exactly what he’s looking for.
The last thing that makes a man want to marry a woman that I think is one of the most important elements of a successful relationship is the ability to communicate well. I know I touched on a bit already but this is so, so key. Be upfront and honest with your guy and say what you’re thinking. Really be a straight shooter with him. If you’re focused on the long term, there should be no beating around the bush so to speak. Also handy dandy in a relationship and marriage is a shared sense of humor. I don’t mean that you both need to laugh at the Three Stooges, but rather be able to not take each other too seriously. If both of you can laugh at each other and at yourself, then you’re looking for a pretty good indicator of a lasting relationship and marriage.
